Kurt Scheer Obituary

Kurt E. Scheer, 61, passed away Sunday, March 21, after a long illness. Born August 20th, 1959, Kurt grew up in Kensington, CT. He graduated from Berlin High School and Central Connecticut State University. After college, he found employment as a computer programmer, and moved out west, ending up in California for most of his adult life. Kurt returned to Connecticut five years ago to be closer to his family. Kurt is predeceased by his father, Ken Scheer. He is survived by his mother, Rose Scheer, his brother Ken Scheer (Betsy), his twin brother, Kris Scheer, and his two sisters, Kathy Corcoran (Jerry ) and Karrie Phillips (Bernie), as well as his nieces and nephews, Matt Scheer (Morgan), Zachary Scheer, Kathryn Scheer, Conor Phillips, Cole Phillips, Madison Corcoran and Ryan Corcoran. He is also survived by his best friend, Trevor Hudgens (Michelle and sons). Kurt will be lovingly remembered for his kind and generous soul. He was an independent man who did not let his physical handicap stop him from reaching his goals. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to a charity of your choosing, or honor Kurt's memory with a gesture of kindness to someone in need. There will be a private service at a future date.

Dear Scheer Family,
We were so sorry to hear about Kurt's passing. What a wonderful, warm, funny guy he was. I loved seeing him on Christmas Eve, for many years in a row at Aunt Lucy & Uncle Ed's. You are in our hearts at this sad time.
Love to everyone.

Kerry and family, I am so sorry to hear this news. I have fond memories of my "Berlin Days" and several visits out to the Scheer Family Farm. May you find peace in these tough times.

My deepest condolences to Kurt's beloved family. My favorite place to sit at Prayer and Share was next to Kurt. It was not just that he was so kind with first thoughts of others or his sense of humor (we had to quiet down more than once). He was my paesano, proud of his Italian heritage and ever the gentleman. He loved to surprise us with chocolates – Oh he loved candy – the sharing as much as eating it. Kurt’s devotion to his family was evident in his conversation and thoughts and prayers. He was an inspiration and a friend. I will miss him, but keep the lessons he taught me: humbleness, kindness, and keeping a wicked sense of naughty humor in the midst of trials. Your memory will be a blessing

I am so sorry to hear about Kurt's passing. He was an inspiration to those of us who grew up with him. He never allowed his disability to slow him down. Weeks spent at Camp Nahaco during summer, where he excelled and inspired the rest of us. A kind warm hearted man who will be fondly remembered by our family.

Our thoughts and prayers go to the all of Kurts family. He was an inspiration to me. He attended our Prayer and Share Group at First Church on Tuesday mornings when he was able. He spread his smile, encouragement and generous spirit to all of us. He will be missed, but not forgotten.

So sorry to hear of Kurt’s passing. Although I only encountered him a few times at prayer and share, he left no doubt in my mind that he radiated Gods love. He never showed heartbreak or bitterness as his health declined. Instead, he radiated love and joy to all he encountered. While undergoing his own multiple surgeries and hospitalizations he still radiated the love and concern of the best Christian caregivers and was always concerned for his loving mother and family.
How fitting for him to be pain free ad go to the Lord at Easter Season when we are celebrating the joy of resurrection ad the rebirth of Spring!
✝ ❤❤
With heartfelt sympathy,
