Rev. Dr. Lamont Freeman Foster Sr.

Rev. Dr. Lamont Freeman Foster, Sr., 67, transitioned Thursday, September 29, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born to the union of Benjamin Foster, Sr. and Miriam F. Foster, July 30, 1955, in Raleigh, NC. His family relocated to Hartford, CT from Camp Lejeune, NC. Rev. Foster was educated in the Hartford Public School system, graduating from Weaver High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut. He earned a Master's in Counseling from North Carolina Central University and Doctorate in Education Administration from Appalachia State University. He was a school administrator. He obtained a Master's in Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry degrees from Hood Theological Seminary. Rev. Foster served as President of several N.A.A.C.P. branches in North Carolina. He was a Mason, member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, and Hood Theological Seminary National Alumni Association, eventually serving as President. He was Senior Pastor, St. John A.M.E. Zion Church in Wilson, NC. He leaves to cherish his memory and strivings, Rev. Yolanda Austin Foster (wife). Children: Rashida Tene Foster, Lamont Freeman Foster, Jr., Dion Williams. Grandchildren: Tayvion Foster, Caimen Wallace and Jaden Clements. Siblings: Dr. Benjamin Foster, Jr. (Walton), Lionel D. Foster, Sr. (Emily), Dianna Olise, and Carlos Foster, and nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends.
