Larry Lisciotti Obituary

LISCIOTTI, Larry F. Larry Francis Lisciotti of Manchester, passed away after a brief illness at Hartford Hospital on Monday (February 9, 2004). Larry was born on December 26, 1946 in Keene, NH and was raised by his mother and stepfather Hazel and Francis McAfee. His family relocated to Manchester where he attended local schools. Larry was an all around 1st class athlete and excelled at every sport he played, beginning his career at 10 years old playing both basketball and baseball at the East Side Rec in Manchester. The love of the sport and the talent he acquired sent him all over the world playing in numerous tournaments, culminating in his earning the title of World Champion in 1976 in Asbury Park, NJ when he went on to beat Steve Mizerak. He also enjoyed and won many tournaments in duckpin bowling and golf and was inducted into the Manchester Hall of Fame in 1996. He was owner of Championship Billiards in Manchester. He leaves behind his beloved and best friend, Susan; and their three children, Melissa, Mackenzie and Lance, as well as his newborn grandson, Jesse. He was predeceased by his mother and stepfather. He also leaves his sister Cheryl in Santa Rosa, CA, his stepbrother, Francis and stepsister, Lori both of Oregon and his mother-in-law, Edith Correnti of Manchester. Funeral services will be held Friday February 13, at 10 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial in St James Cemetery, Manchester. I was a young high schooler who hung out at the Dug Out, wanting to be Minnesota Fats. We younger dudes watched in awe as Larry beat old and young alike, he kept Don busy. So many names from the old home town. We all thought his pool shooting would end with his horrible accident but....

I remember when my uncle Larry married Susan. I thought they were the most beautiful couple in the world. I was sure my uncle was Tony Orlando incognito (looked just like him). He was always my famous uncle who won many a pool tournament. I really didn't see him much growing up or get to see my cousins, but was able to spend some time getting to know him recently when my Nana (Hazel) passed away. I'm thankful for that time. He was a fun, story-filled man who seemed to live life to its fullest. God bless his family as they mourn his passing.

Larry always lived life his way, even at a young age. When we were kids some of the most fun (and trouble)we got into was because we were defying the rules and got caught. The stories we could tell.

Although life has led us on very seperate paths there were still fond memories in our adult years. When our Mom died in April of 2000 Larry and I were both by her side. We spent some time grieving together as we were now orphans. Then I got to know Larry the man, husband and father. I am thankful we had that time together and my kids got to know their famous uncle.

Your legacy lives on in your beautiful children.

You are at peace my brother. Thanks for the memories.

Your loving sister

Cheryl

Susan and I have been best friends for over 30 years...I remember Susan and Larry's first date..I don't think I have ever laughed harder or had more fun with 2 people in my entire life. They were so much alike in so many ways and I always envied their close relationship..I am devastated with Larry's passing and I know how hard it has got to be for Susan. I pray for strength for you, Susan, and please know he is watching you every minute, as you were the love of his life and always will be. Chris Smith

I met Larry when I was 19 and he was only 15. I lived in Enfield, CT and he lived in Manchester,CT. I used to go and play Larry at the Dugout many times. On Sundays Larry would come to Enfield, CT because the Dugout was closed. Over the years Larry became a phenomenal player and a great hustler. I lost contact with Larry over time but I certainly thought about him alot...the stories of him and Jim Rempe on the road back in the 70's are legendary. He was a great player...one of the best. My sympathies to his family and I will never forget him. Joe

My family would like to express our deepest and sincere sympathy and respect to the Liscotti Family.

May God guide you through this hard and trying time. May you hold each other tight and remember the bond that holds family close together. There is a new star that shines bright in the skies tonight, and forever more constant, now that Larry is there. Melissa, Mackenzie, and Lance, hold your Mom close and dear. Look up to the night skies and feel comfort when you are sad, knowing that your dad looks down on you like a blanket of security. He will keep you safe. Hold onto faith and memories of your dad, and you will never be alone.

I know that Tony will be there for you, when you need him.

God Bless and be with you always.
