MOYER, Laurence
Laurence Moyer, born in Landsdale, PA and a longtime resident of West Hartford, has died at the age of 84. Moyer received his B.A. degree from Muhlenberg College and a M.A. degree from Lehigh University. He also earned a Ph.D. from Northwestern University, where he specialized in European history. After extended periods of research and study in Germany, Moyer became a history professor at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA. He moved to West Hartford in 1967 and joined the history department at Central Connecticut State University where he taught for twenty five years. In addition to several scholarly articles, Dr. Moyer is the author of a book about Germany during World War I entitled, "Victory Must Be Ours." Moyer is survived by brothers Winfield (Bud) of Manchester, and Stephen of Orange, CA; as well as fifteen nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Malloy Funeral Home in West Hartford on Friday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m.
