Lawrence D. Beck

1957 - 2023

Lawrence Donald Beck of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of Stafford, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 12, 2023. Born on May 16, 1957, the beloved son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Golyshko) Beck of Wethersfield, CT. After graduating from Newington High School, he joined the Marine Corp in 1977. He spent 2 years stationed in Hawaii and was honorably discharged as a Sargent. He pursued his love of Science at Williams College, in Williamstown, MA, where he earned a BS in chemistry.

Even while working at UPS for 35 years, he managed to enjoy the sciences in his everyday life, finding it in cooking and gardening. He found another love during his years at UPS, his wife Kate, who worked for FedEx, what can you say, 'it was chemistry'?

They spent 33 happy years together, the last 6 years as husband and wife. While attending a family wedding in Santa Barbara, Ca., they decided to elope. What can you say, it was the perfect time and place, and again it was chemistry.

Larry leaves behind his favorite person in the world, his wife, Kate.

Larry will be missed by those who knew and loved him, his sisters Ellen Santoro and husband Enrico, deceased, Carol Paproski and husband the Very Reverend Peter Paproski, as well as his in-laws Jack DuPilka and wife Ann, Ellen Eldridge and husband Frank, deceased, Margaret DuPilka and husband Richard Moriarty, Judith Hastings and husband Cooper, 2 nieces and 8 nephews whom he loved dearly.
