Lawrence Arthur Dermody

Lawrence was born in Pittsfield, MA on 11/27/34. He was the oldest son of 6 boys. His father, Arthur and mother Ella, encouraged him to play sports at the Boys Club. At St. Joseph High School, he was captain of basketball, football and baseball teams where he earned the title, "The Pittsfield Flash". He met the love of his life, Jeanine Rose Discoe in their junior year. He joined the Navy after high school and married Jeanine 3/7/53. They were stationed at Camp LeJeune where daughter, Colleen was born. After the service, they moved to Pittsfield, MA until he was offered a job at UTC, Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, CT. Here they raised their family on Wood Dr. with the addition of 3 children, Brian, Kerry and Lori. Lawrence played triple A baseball and coached high school basketball and umpired for many years. Larry and Jeanine summered at Sun Valley in Stafford Springs where many happy memories and close friends were made. Family trips to the Berkshires, Rhode Island and Atlantic City are memories to be savored. They resided in East Hartford until they retired and moved to Stuart, FL. Lawrence was an honorary member of Hose Co. #3, Knights of Columbus and St. Iasacc Jogues Church. Lawrence was always called Larry or Coach. He was survived by his wife, Jeanine, daughters; Colleen (husband, Brian Sample) and Lori (husband, Dan Herbert), sons; Brian (wife Kathleen) and Kerry, brothers; Kevin and Arthur, grandson; Kurt( intended Chelsie Hayes), and married granddaughter. He is also loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was pre-deceased by his parents, brothers; Michael, James and William (the twins) and Leo Rayball his best buddy. In Stuart, FL he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, South River Condo Association and St. Joseph's Church. The "Coach" was larger than life and loved his Irish Heritage. He was an avid Yankees and New York Giants fan. Coach passed away April 11, 2015. Service will be held in Stuart, Fl at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on April 24, 2015. www.allcounty.com
