In 1966 I moved to Hartford from Chicago, Illinois to be a help to my older sister. I was a freshman in high school and didn“t know anyone in Hartford. Somewhere during my brief stay in Hartford I crossed paths with Lee Otis. I was from Chicago so I had seen my share of great basketball player but I had never seen a basketball player shoot the ball like Lee Otis. We became best friends the year I was there. He was a great basketball player and even better person. This was over 50 years ago but I never forgot my friend Lee Otis. This month I am returning to Hartford and want to look my friend up only to find out that my friend had passed. To the family of Lee Wilson I want to say that I am so sorry for your loss he was a great friend to me when I needed a friend.

Just got the news today,.. wow. It has been a long time since I have seen Lee Otis. We all know he was an iconic athlete. A basketball player with range on his jump shot from half court on in..and that's for real. I most remember him during a game at Weaver High he stoped his play got into the balcony section, and saved my sister from an asault.. that is the kind of man he was... I also remember him & I playing & beating Steve Harris & Preston Jackson 2 on 2 at UCONN during the black student summer session.. that brings a smile to my face.. that was a happy time with me and my friend Lee Otis Wilson.. I weep now.. but I'll see you again Lee.. We are praying for the rest of the Wilson family..we love you.

To Daphne and the entire Wilson Family,
It is with much regret that I send my condolences to you all on behalf of the Knight Family.
I grew up with and played against Lee Otis. I was one of the HPHS ball players that was on the losing end of that classic 1971 basketball game for the State Championship.
Lee Otis was more than just a gifted athlete he was a good friend. I will surely miss him. Lee Otis is now in the presence of the lord, where we all long to be. Find comfort in the kind words and memories we have all shared and know that we too bear the cross with you.
Much love,

To: The Wilson Family, "Gone But Not Forgotten." It never easy when you lose a love one. Lee will truly be miss by family and friends. I thank the Lord for the memories that we share. We all are here for a season and we understand the cycle. But sometime we are not ready to let go. But the Lord know best. No more hurt or pain. I will keep his memories alive in my heart. Always remember that death cannot kill our love, and hands cannot bury it. So on this homecoming celebration I give God the glory and praise for a life well-lived. Always remember his priceless gift he left you with. His love is our forever. Remember to comfort one another with these scriptures. (1Thessalonians 4:16-17-18) Please remember you're not alone. The Lord is with you at all times. Prayer is one of the highest expressions of love. Our family will keep you're family in prayer during this difficult loss. May the Lord continue to watch over your family. On behalf of The King Family, we are sending you our love. Miguel

To Daphne, children & the entire Wilson Family:
To God be the glory! As you prepare to celebrate the life of your loved one, remember He makes no mistakes and only takes the best. Yes, Lee Otis is absent from his flesh, but now he's present with Him. As you morn your love one, remember your tears are part of the healing process. Trust Him and He will give you comfort and understanding that Lee Otis has finished what He set forth for him to do on this side. On Friday, April 8th, I and so many others will celebrate with you all Lee Otis life. We will praise Him for His goodness and grace; thank Him for His mercy and love and throughout the celebration we will be reminded not that Lee Otis died, but that he lived and left great memories. To My Family The Wilsons:
I am very greatful that I had a chance to spend time with my big cousin during our family reunion in Delray last July! Lee Otis was amazed at how well I knew all the line dances saying "Girl you sure can dance!" That's the memory I want to keep close to me of him. Visioning him, Bert, Kim, Doretha smiling and having fun!
See You someday Cuz!

To the Wilson Family,
I am extremely sadden by Lee Otis' passing. He was a long time friend from my high school years and I have fond memories of playing ball all day and just hanging out with him. Lee Otis always had a great sense of humor and was a loyal friend. I was also very happy that I was able to reconnect with Lee Otis at church over the past couple of years after a long period of losing contact with him. May God bless you at this difficult time.

Daphne and Family,
It is with a heavy heart that I send my condolences and prayers to you and your Family on the passing of your Husband. I met you last year when I was home for Haywood's funeral. Lee, Haywood and I grew up together. When you saw one, you saw the others. Although we grew apart as we got older, I still have great memories, and still love both as if they were my blood brothers. My brothers are now at peace. Remember, THE LORD MAKES NO MISTAKES!!!
God bless!
