Leontyna Michnicki Obituary

Leontyna Michnicki, 86, of Wethersfield, beloved wife for 29 years of the late Stefan Michnicki, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2019, surrounded by her family at her home. Born in Oltarze, Poland on September 21, 1932, daughter of the late Teofil and Aniela (Slepowronska) Bienkowski, she was raised in Poland and came to the United States in 1960. Leontyna and her husband settled in Hartford and after five years moved to Wethersfield where they had lived for the last 53 years. A retiree of the Heublein Corporation in Hartford, Leontyna worked in quality control until her retirement in 1998. A wonderful cook and baker, Leontyna loved making traditional Polish dishes and entertaining family and friends for holidays and family get togethers. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to the flower and vegetable gardens around her home, going to Hammonasset Beach and Rocky Neck, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a faithful parishioner of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church for over 50 years where she also had served as a member of the Holy Rosary Society. She leaves two children, Teresa Dabrowski and Steven Michnicki and his wife Susan; four grandchildren, Mark Dabrowski and his wife Melissa, Alicja and Angelina Dabrowski, and Gerek Michnicki; a brother, Czeslaw Bienkowski; a special niece, Jadwiga Kordowski, two great-nieces and a great nephew, Jolanta Inda and her husband Tyler, Monika Hunt and her husband Ryan, and Michael Kordowski and his wife Beata; and a great-great niece, Fiona and a great-great-nephew, Patrick. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Anna Lach for her compassionate care over the last two years. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Miroslaw Dabrowski; and a sister, Anna Dybowski. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, May 16, 4-7 p.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, 43 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford. Family and friends may gather on Friday, May 17, 10:30 a.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 a.m., at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Memorial donations may be made to SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Attn: Restoration Fund, 55 Charter Oak Ave., Hartford, CT 06106. For online condolences please visit, www.southgreenmemorialhome.com.
