SMORAGIEWICZ, Lillian Mary (Koharsic)

Lillian Mary (Koharsic) Smoragiewicz of West Hartford, beloved wife of the late Charles K. Smoragiewicz passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, (October 13, 2013). Born in Avon, she had lived in Hartford before moving to West Hartford in 1975. Lillian worked for the West Hartford School System for many years at Bugbee and Sedgwick Schools. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and playing bingo. Lillian was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and she enjoyed spending time with her family and Sunday visits with "Maddie". She leaves her son, Richard Smoragiewicz and his wife Mary Ellen of Glastonbury; her daughter, Nancy S. Czapla and her husband Edward of West Hartford; and her son, Tom Smoragiewicz and his wife Mary of Newington. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Chad Czapla and his wife Dr. Brigid Killelea, Jamey Czapla and his wife Lauren, Allison Czapla, Michael, Daniel, Jeffrey, Matthew, Kathryn, Kristen and Gregory Smoragiewicz and Laurie McBreen. In addition, she leaves her five beloved great-grandchildren, Gertie, Frances, Luke, Charlie and Ben Czapla; her sister, Sophie Petkis of Windsor and many nieces and nephews. Lillian was predeceased by her daughter, Linda McBreen; her brother, Adam and her sisters, Estelle, Helen and Josephine.
Funeral procession will be Friday, 9 a.m. from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. in St. Cyril and Methodius Church, Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
