Linda Jason Obituary

JASON, Linda M. Linda (Marth) Jason, 63, of Durham, wife of Norman S. Jason, died on Thursday evening, (May 17, 2007), at her home after a lengthy illness. Born in Meriden on September 27, 1943, the daughter of the late Raymond and Marguerite (Moore) Marth, she had resided in Durham for the past seven years. She had graduated from Southern Connecticut State University, Class of 1965. Mrs. Jason was an educator for many years, teaching English as a second language. She also coached softball, volleyball, basketball, and was the Dean of Girls at The Marvelwood School in Kent, where she completed her career. She was a parishioner of Notre Dame Church in Durham and Christ The King Church in Old Lyme. She was a member of the Durham Garden Club and former member of the Middletown Garden Club. Mrs. Jason was past chairwoman of the Old Lyme Republican Town Committee. Her lifelong passion was spending time with family and friends at their summer home at Rogers Lake in Old Lyme. Other interests included horseback riding, gardening and antiquing. One of her greatest loves was spending time with her grandchildren. Besides her husband, Norman, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Jeff Cook of Hanover, NH; a son, Jeffrey Nelson of Pacifica, CA; stepchildren, Cynthia and David Sullivan of Higganum, Bonnie Jason and David Schneider of Homer, AK, Meredith Jason and Chris Conte of Washington, DC, and Wendy Jason of Homer, AK; nine grandchildren, Liam and Kieron Cook, Carter and Kyle Sullivan, Alex and William Conte, Patrick, Emily, and Kenneth Schneider; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Elizabeth Marth of Cheshire. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Mass to be held on Wednesday, May 23 at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church, 272 Main St., Durham. A private burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to The Susan G. Komen For the Cure, P. O.
