Lois Glazier Obituary

Lois Jean (Grennan) Glazier, 90, of Windsor Locks, CT passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on February 26, 2023. She was born in Rockville, CT, daughter of the late Augustine and Irene Grennan. At Stafford High School, Jean played the flute in the high school band, held the position of class Secretary, was the class Salutatorian, and was voted the Most Popular Girl. After graduating, Jean worked at a bank, in Stafford Springs, where she forged life-long friendships with what became known as the "Bank Gang". She married Douglas Glazier in August 1954 after Doug completed his basic training in the US Army, then moved to New Jersey to be with Doug while he was stationed at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. After returning to CT, she began working from home selling Pequot Soda. When her children were older, she worked at C.H. Dexter & Sons and then went on to become the Executive Director of the Windsor Locks Housing Authority, a position she held for 26 years. During this time, she also served as the Clerk for the W.L. Board of Finance. Upon retirement, she continued to work on various town committees such as the Board of Selectman, Board of Assessment Appeals and was secretary for the Republican Town Committee. She was a volunteer for the Information Booth at Bradley International Airport for many years. She was a devoted parishioner of the W.L. Congregational Church for over 60 years and sang in the church choir for more than 40 years. Although she was known as Jean to all, her given name was Lois and she was a proud member of the "Lois Club"; a national organization. She would join the members regularly for luncheons, and she and Doug enjoyed the annual conventions held around the country. In her spare time she loved to read, was a lifelong gardener, and loved doing crossword puzzles, creating beautiful counted cross stitch pieces, and watching UCONN Women's Basketball. She is survived by her loving husband Douglas, married for 68 years; her son Douglas, Jr. (Chuck) and wife Jane of Hopkinton, MA; son Barry and wife Lisa of Albany, VT; daughter Sue and husband Jim Osowiecki of West Suffield, CT; son Glenn of Windsor Locks, CT; grandchildren Jen, Tim, Brian, Beth, Steven, Emily and Jack; great grandchildren Jameson, Kiley, Kayla, Luke and Colin; sister in-law Margaret Nishanian; a nephew and several nieces. She is predeceased by her late brother Gus Grennan, Jr. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at the Windsor Locks Congregational Church, 8 Main St., Windsor Locks. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will be sometime in May, and will be announced. For online condolences, please visit www.windsorlocksfuneralhome.com.

Grandma Jean,
Can't believe it has been just about a year since you've been gone. I know you are with us, watching over us. There is not one day that goes by that I don't think of you, and every time something I think of I want to tell you.

The Glaziers and Vozzolas have been friends and neighbors for almost 60 years. From Litchfield Drive to Taft Lane, Jean was a grand friend to our parents Peter and Elly. Her many accomplishments speak to her many talents--and her large heart.

I am so sorry to hear the sad news of your mother. We were blessed to have her as our aunt. I always loved her sense of humor and love she gave us. Please know how much she talked about her family and always included us with everyone´s activities. I always remember her laughter, her bright attitude and love for all. Again, I am so sorry to hear of her passing but am always grateful for her love to everyone she met.

Love,

Cathy Grennan

Mom,
It´s hard to know I´ll never be able to talk to you or see you again. But what you left behind will live on in your children, your grandchildren and great grandchildren. You taught us what it means to be kind, to show compassion, to work hard, to laugh and to enjoy life. We all agree we could not have asked for a better mother. You will be missed more than you could know.
