Lola McGhee Obituary

Lola M. McGhee, 72, of Hartford, CT, transitioned peacefully Monday, October 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Lola was born March 7, 1951, in Braggs, AL daughter of the late Mack and Inez McGhee. Lola was employed with the State of Connecticut, Department of Social Services, retiring after 40 years of service. Lola leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters LaRissa and LaToya Johnson; granddaughters, Azaria Jones, MaKayla Jones, and Ciara Cannon; grandsons, Myles Jones and Kenae Jones, Jr.; sisters, Leatha Welton, Ann Mitchell (Horace) and Ida McGhee Robinson (Raymond), and a host of other close relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Lola was preceded in death by her brothers John and Lee McGhee and her son-in-law Kenae Jones, Sr. Lola's family will receive family and friends on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 10am-11am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11am, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 350 Albany Ave., Hartford, CT. So sad to hear of Lola´s passing. Will never forget the special moments we had at work and getting together for our monthly breakfast or lunch after we both retired from the State DSS. My condolences to Sister Lola McGhee family. She always had a beautiful smile on her face a lovely spirit and a heart of gold. She was a loving and caring person. May the wonderful memories of a lovely person live forever in your heart. God has truly received another angel in his heavenly kingdom. She will be truly missed by her entire family, her grandchildren she adored. We work together for the Department of Social Services.I will miss our conversations and prayer we used to have.
