Dear Mendelson family.
He was one of the greatest humans i have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He saved my life on more than one occasion. I was young when I was diagnosed w asthma and allergies. My parents were also young and terrified and had no idea what to do and that's when Dr. Louis Mendelson stepped in to guide them and explain to them how asthma works. I will never forget the time my parents brought me directly to his office while I was having a sever asthma attack and all I can remember was him stopping traffic while pushing me in a wheelchair into the hospital. Dr. Mendelson was my doctor all through childhood and even into my early twenties, when I moved out of state. He was instrumental not just in treating my asthma, but in making sure I always knew how to handle it myself.

I just learned of Dr. Mendelson's passing. My deepest condolences to his family.
Dr. Mendelson was my two daughters' allergist, both of whom have anaphylactic food allergies and asthma. His care of my children changed our lives for which we will be forever grateful... I will always remember his gentle manner and endearing sense of humor.
May his memory be a blessing.

I just learned of the passing of Dr. Mendelson as I hadn’t been to the allergy office in a year. I was sad to hear of the passing of the greatest dr. I have ever known. He was the most kind, loving, humble dr. I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He would always sit with me at every allergy visit, ask how my life was going, even gave me a hot tea when I was having a bad day. I will forever be grateful for all he did for me and I will remember him fondly as the greatest dr. I have ever had. Thank you Dr. Mendelson for your extraordinary personality and brilliant knowledge in the allergy world. You are dearly missed.

Dr. Mendelson was truly a heaven sent earthly angel. There are no words that can equal all the gifts that Dr. M shared with his family, friends all over and patients from every walk of life. His life and ever caring heart and medical expertise was life altering and life saving for more people that Dr. M could ever count or want to be recognized for in his tremendous humility. Our family was one of countless numbers who were so blessed by this incredible soul and physician. Dr. M and his beautiful family will forever be in our grateful and loving hearts and prayers. My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Mendelson family. As a clinician-researcher Lou was a tremendous mentor and inspiration to me. His impact on his patients is itself immeasurable, but his indelible impact on the field through his brilliance, dedication and persistence is so incredibly immense that he has improved the lives of countless people who have and will continue to benefit from his work and tireless contributions. And he did all of this with grace, selflessness, compassion, humility and humor. He is sorely missed but his incredible impact and inspiration lives on. Lou, I thank you for everything.

I had the privilege of knowing Louis Mendelson for 37 years.He was a brilliant physician . What was most extraordinary was that with all of his achievements, awards and accolades, he was humble.There was never a trace of arrogance...He was kind, gentle, caring and it was with the utmost sincerity.

To Margie, David, Andrew and all of Dr. Mendelson's beloved family. All the Nortons extend our deepest and heartfelt sympathy in the loss of our dear friend and physician Dr. M. Dr. M's love for his friends and patients was only secondary to his tremendous love for his family.
In his lifelong profession, Dr. M played a vital part in the treatment of our two boys and kept them strong, comfortable, and healthy all the while. He immediately won their hearts and trust with his gentle ways and always warm and welcoming smile and mannerisms.
He was a giant of a man who, inspite of his immeasurable accolades, remained extremely humble and unassuming. He was the most brilliant,loving, caring, supportive, dedicated, and compassionate friend and physician to countless patients from all walks of life. He won everyone's hearts and respect locally and widespread.
I had the great honor and privilege of working for this amazing physician for years at CAAC in West Hartford. He was the best of the best and will continue to inspire his successors from his most deserved heavenly throne and keep watch over his loved ones always and forever.
We love you dearly Dr. M and cherish your memory.

I am so sorry for the loss of Dr. Mendelson. In the Allergy circles and meetings he was known as Lou, and everyone knew how kind and generous Lou was. He spared no effort or fortune to support the specialty of Allergy and the young fellows and residents who were interested in Allergy. He had a lot of courage and vision to pioneer the accurate diagnosis of drug allergy and the treatment of patients with food allergies. For me personally, he was a very dear friend and colleague. I will miss him dearly and I send my most sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

My most memorable moment was walking with Uncle Lou Lou through the rose garden park. While walking I shared my desire to become a mother independent of a partner; he didn't even pause before saying You'll be a terrific mother! My heart swelled. His smile huge, warm, and inviting. I will miss his individual enthusiasm felt during each phone call and each visit. ❤

Please accept my most sincere and heartfelt condolences on the passing of Dr. Mendelson. He was my doctor since age 3 and treated my own daughter as well. I will always remember the sparkle in his eyes and his kind smile. He cared so deeply about his patients. I bumped into him once at Peppercorns and he left his table to give me a hug and ask me how I was doing after I had seen him about 3 months prior for a particular allergy episode. I will never forget him. Thank you Dr. Mendelson. May you rest in peace.

Lou was truly the warmest, kindest and most generous person I've ever met. Always with a smile, a twinkle in his eye and a light hearted attitude, Lou lifted the spirits of anyone around him. When I last spoke him 2 weeks ago, he was gracious, thankful and made me laugh, despite feeling the effects of his illness. He left a mark on this world, professionally and in his personal interactions, and he will never be forgotten by those that had the honor of meeting him. You are deeply missed Lou.

I'm saddened by the loss of such a kind and caring man. Having two children with asthma and life-threatening food allergies, we spent so much time with Dr. Mendelson he felt like part of the family. I'll never forget one particularly tough appointment when my son started to cry. After grabbing the box of tissues and handing one to my son, Dr. Mendelson proceeded to take tissue after tissue out of the box letting them drop to the ground until my son finally broke into a fit of laughter. Every visit started with a warm smile and small talk about sports. He was quick with a joke and a dum dum lollipop. He was truly a one-of-a-kind and we all loved him. I'm forever grateful for Dr. Mendelson's compassionate guidance and willingness to do whatever he could to make life a little easier for children with food allergies and their parents. My condolences to the entire Mendelson family.

Dr. Mendelson was truly one of a kind in the world of medicine. I have never felt the loss of a doctor until today. He cared for me from the time I was in middle school right through college, always putting me & my mom at ease whether it was health related or insurance related. I'm almost 40 now & can still hear his voice telling me in middle school that I was allergic to homework, chores, and boys with a sparkle in his eye and smile on his face. Condolences to the Mendelson family. Dr. Mendelson was my favorite doctor and I saw him up until he retired from CT Asthma & Allergy. I always made him feel old because I was one of his very first patients. He always was happy to see me and always asked how the family was. He was such a great doctor. I was so shocked to see that he passed away because he never aged every time I saw him. He was such an extremely smart man. The world has truly lost a great doctor.

Dr Mendelson was a great man being our physician for over 30 years to myself and my children, he not only cared for us to be the best health wise but his compassion he showed to me and my children was more than being a physician he was a friend. Saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Mendelson. I am a former patient of his. He was an amazing physician, evidenced by the fact that I was never able to find an allergist in my adult years who had the clinical skill and expertise and most importantly rapport with patients that he did.
