ARCHER
LOUISE E. "BILLY"
Of Friendship Village, age 97, on Thursday, September 26, 2002. She was a 1972 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Billy served for over 55 years as a volunteer with Magee Women's Hospital Volunteer Service Organization. She was the only member to have ever received a 50-year pin. Her service was mainly directed to the Hospital Gift Shop, where she created a baby boutique, which is now named, in her honor, "Billy's Boutique." She was married for over 40 years to the late Dr. W. Harry Archer, DDS. Dr. Archer had a long, distinguished career in Oral Surgery. He was a Professor Emeritus at University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where the Oral Maxiofacial Clinic was named in his honor. Surviving is a son, William Archer of Tempe, AZ, as well as two cousins, David Archer of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Donna Leo of the Philadelphia area. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUER, 412-531-4000.

Please accept my condolences. I have seen pictures of a very young Louise Etzel Archer in our family albums and would have liked to have the opportunity to know her. She certainly was one of the first women on our extended family tree to get a higher education (1927!) which was a wonderful accomplishment.
