Lucy ALEXANIAN Obituary

ALEXANIAN, Lucy L. Lucy L. Alexanian, 91, of East Hartford, passed away Monday, (November 23, 2009) after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Oscar Alexanian. Born in New Britain on July 24, 1918, she was the daughter of Avides and Alma (Ashmudurian) Mooshegian. She was a Newington resident for 35 years before moving to East Hartford in 1982. She was employed by Travelers Insurance Co. for ten years and was a long time parishioner at the St. George Armenian Apostolic Church in Hartford. She and her husband truly enjoyed life and loved travelling, especially to Hawaii. Lucy loved the Women's Huskies' Basketball team, Dancing with the Stars, and her music box collection. She is survived by her two daughters; and sons-in-law, Celia and Frank C. Collins, Jr., of East Hartford, and Lucille and Carl Claxton of Fairview, TX; two sisters, Edna Mooshegian of New Britain and Ruth Kevorkian of Granby, and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Besides her husband of 54 years, she was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Farashian, Saitie Alexanian, and Rose Fazzina. Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. George Armenain Apostolic Church, 22 White St., Hartford. Everyone is asked to go directly to church Saturday morning. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Friday, November 27, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. at the Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucy's name may be made to the Riverside Heath and Rehab Alzheimer's Unit, 745 Main St., East Hartford, CT 06108, Attn: Gina Kastrup.
