Malcolm Sewell

Malcolm R Sewell, born on a potato farm on October 7, 1923 in Rosedale, New Brunswick Canada, passed away on February 18, 2022 after 98 years of helping all who needed him! As a young man growing up, he worked with his dad on the family farm, watching and figuring out how to get the job done! At nineteen, with a wife, Gwendolyn, and newborn son, he got on the train with twenty dollars to start a better life in Connecticut, working any and every job he could to secure a better way of life for his family of four boys, always helping friends and family during a 40 year plus marriage. In 1962 he started Washington Concrete Products in Plainville. He built it from the ground up with his bare hands and 60 years later the business proudly remains in the hands of his family. Malcolm enjoyed his team, the Red Sox, and his summer "camp" near the Mohawk trail. After meeting the next love of his life, he and Blanche (McCarthy) Sewell traveled though the U.S., with unselfish involvement in the Lions Club, both locally and nationally. This gentle man will truly be missed by all who was graced to have ever meet him. Malcolm leaves his sons, Richard and his wife Nancy, and Scott (Kelly); his grandchildren, Jason (Amy), Jamie, who cared for his grandfather in his time of need the last three years, Michael, Lawson, and Paisley; his great-grandson, Tyler and great-granddaughters, Olivia and Natalia. He was predeceased by his sons, Gordon and Glenn. A wake will be held Monday, February 21 from 4 to 7 pm at the Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St., Plainville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 22 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. All are welcome to visit at the funeral home at 9:30 AM prior to the service. Burial will be held privately.
