Linda Silpe

January 6, 2008

Dear Ursula, Liz and Julie,
I was sorry to learn of Manfred's death. Greg and I had been speaking of him this past week, how he overcame all sorts of personal pitfalls by rising to and overcomming every challenge.
Publically, the passing of your husband and father is the end of an industry that flourished in Hartford for many years; the local meat business run by Jewish and Italian families. Those business were run, prospered on a handshake, with out written contracts...just the word of the "man". Surely, you can be very proud of Manfred for many things, his honorable good name should top that list.
Don joins me in condolences to you all. We are in Florida, or we would be paying our respects in person.
Fondly,
Linda Fisher Silpe
