Marilyn LINDE Obituary

LINDE, Marilyn J. Marilyn J. (Sorgio) Linde, 79, of Manchester, peacefully passed away Monday (September 27, 2010) with her family at her side. Marilyn was born July 19, 1931 in Hartford daughter of the late Dominic and Julia (Daly) Sorgio, attended local schools and was a graduate of Weaver High School. She was employed for over 30 years with the US Postal Service serving as Postmaster for the city of Hartford and the town of Newington. Marilyn was a longtime Communicant of St. Bridget Church in Manchester. She was a graduate and volunteer of the Manchester Police Citizens Academy. She was an avid cook and baker and was well known for her spaghetti sauce, cookies and pastries including her apple, blueberry and strawberry pies. Marilyn loved to entertain and enjoyed the summer parties by the family pool. She is survived by her three children, Kimberly Linde and Don Linde both of Manchester, Kelly DiPietro of Southwick, MA, her son–in-law, Richard DiPietro and three loving grandchildren; Nicholas, Michael and Christina DiPietro. Other survivors include her brother, Thomas Sorgio of Simsbury, her former husband, Donald W. Linde of Ft. Myers, FL, a special niece, Peggy Sorgio-Hedus and her husband, Gary Hedus of Torrington and several other nieces and nephews. To some family members, Marilyn was warmly referred to as "Soda". In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her son, Brian Linde and her brother Dominic Sorgio II. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget Church 80 Main St. Manchester. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Calling hours will be Wednesday, Sept. 29th from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the Hartford Police Department Benevolent Association, 50 Jennings Road, Hartford, CT 06120 or to St. Bridget School Endowment 74 Main St. Manchester, CT 06042.
