DUNN, Rev. Dr. Markham E. Sr. Rev. Dr. Markham E. Dunn, Sr., 61, of Miner Street, Middletown, beloved husband of Diana E. (Whitehead) Dunn, died on Tuesday (January 10, 2006) at home after a long struggle with cancer. Born in Zebulon, GA, he was the son of Lorene (Marshall) Dunn of Williamson, GA and the late C. Ferrell Dunn. He was the pastor of the Third Congregational Church of Middletown since February 14, 1995. Rev. Dunn has been a minister since December 1981 and has served churches in Georgia, Wisconsin, and North Carolina. Not only did Mark minister to others, he ministered to himself by working with his hands. Mark was an avid woodworker and took great pride in the furniture he built for their home and the many frames he made for his wife's needlework. He also had a great love for John Deere tractors and especially the vintage tractor the church gave him for his 60th birthday. Besides his wife of 38 years and his mother, he leaves two sons, Markham E. Dunn, Jr. and his wife, Kierstin of Middleton, WI, and David C. Dunn and his wife, Renee of Boulder, CO; a brother, C. Fletcher Dunn of Williamson, GA; mother and father-in-law, Ralph and Data Whitehead of Macon, GA; and a niece, two nephews, and many friends. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 14th at 11 a.m. at The Third Congregational Church of Middletown. The Rev. Vann Knight, long time minister and friend, will officiate, as well as Rev. Dr. Bruce Wood and Rev. John Lance. Burial will take place at a later date in his hometown of Zebulon, GA. Friends may call at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church St., Middletown on Friday, January 13th from 4-8 p.m. and are invited to send the family a message of condolence at the website of www.doolittle funeralservice.com. Per Mark's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Third Congregational Church, 94 Miner St., Middletown, CT 06457.

I have just learned of your loss. Both my husband & I are deeply saddend. I will always hold in my heart that Rev. Dunn married us in 2002 and also christened our daughter 2005. It means a lot that he blessed both of our special memories.

We wanted to give our condolences, for the loss of your husband and father. For the short time that we knew him, we were deeply touched by him. His love and warmth and strength were evident through his sickness. We are glad to have met him, and feel privileged to have him marry us. Our most sincere wishes and blessings.

David,
I was very sad to hear about your Dad's passing and I would love very much to make contact with you. It has been too many years since we have talked. I have thought of you and your Mom and Dad many times since hearing about his illness and I have wondered often if you were well. I was pleased to see from the obituary that you are married. You were my best friend since sixth grade and my heart goes out to you today. I wish I could be there to pay my respects. I always loved your parents and you all were like my second family. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers and if you like, I would love to hear from you. 414-526-3855

Dear Diane,
It was with a mixture of great sadness and joy that I learned from Bobbie Chapman of Mark's going to be with our Lord. Mark was a very good friend of mine. The time we shared in prayer in late September will always remain a very special memory. I and my church are continuing to keep you and your family in our prayers as we have done throughout Mark's illness. I pray that you find comfort in the coming days. Should you need me, I am here.
In His Love,
Rev. Gail Mills
