Marlene Nepomuceno Obituary

Marlene Nepomuceno, 78, of Farmington, passed peacefully into the hands of her Lord, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, February 27, 2016. She is survived by her beloved husband and best friend of sixty years, Ernest Nepomuceno; her six children and their spouses, Patrick and Tracey, Jerry and Kerry, Anthony and Tamara, Ernest Jr and Sandra, Elaine, and Maria; her eleven grandchildren, Thomas, Andrew, Jessika, Connor, Emily, Ava, Jack, Tristan, Miette-Blue, Max, and Gabriel; her siblings, Rudy Malapit, Frederico Malapit Jr, and Cecile Avila-Graham; and her extended family. Marlene was a compassionate and devoted servant of God, endlessly committed to the welfare and well-being of others. She dedicated herself to helping others as a certified O.R. nurse at the Medical College of Ohio and at UConn Health Center. Welcoming and generous with her time after retirement, Marlene became a Eucharistic Minister for her parish, the Church of St. Patrick in Farmington as well as an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, and the Farmington Senior Center. Her love for life inspired adventures to many parts of the world with her beloved husband always by her side, but equally happy gardening, attending her grandchildren's events, and cheering for her favorite team, UConn women's basketball. Marlene was guided by her faith but found her greatest joy with family. As a wife, mother and grandmother, she was not only our foundation, but our home. She taught us the importance of family, the quality to always be respectful, to be kind, to always have laughter, to be compassionate, to give of yourself, and to give to others. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt.4, Unionville on Thursday, March 3rd, from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, March 4th at 10 A.M. at the Church of St. Patrick, 110 Main St., Farmington. All are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Farmington. Please join us in celebrating the life of Marlene. In lieu of flowers, the family would like any donations to be made to the Hartford Hospital Transplant Program, care of Hartford Hospital, 80 Seymour Street, Hartford, CT, 06102. Four years ago today I was walking through the reservoir with my heart heavy worrying about you at the hospital.... such grief was going through me that I was sobbing and you hadn't even left your earthly body yet. Today, I walked with Ben in the same reservoir... talking to you. Missing you too. I love you.
