WELLINGTON, Marshall S. Jr.
Marshall Symmes Wellington, Jr., 83, of Vernon, died Monday, (December 19, 2011) at Rockville General Hospital, Vernon. Born in New Haven on April 10, 1928, son of the late Marshall S. Wellington, Sr., and Alice (Van Valkenburg) Wellington, he had lived in South Windsor before moving to Vernon many years ago. Before retiring he was employed as an Electronics Technician by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford. He enjoyed everything electronic, bird watching and earlier in life hiking and camping. Marshall was honorably discharged from Naval Service as an Electronics Technician during the Korean War. He leaves his children, Eric Wellington and his wife Laura of Tolland, Carol Wellington of Ashford and Vera Longe of Lyndonville, VT; grandchildren, Tyler Wellington, of Tolland, Christie Findlay of Monson, MA, Nichole Findlay of Southbridge, MA., Brian Findlay of Ashford and Andrea Longe Jeffersonville, VT; great grandchildren, Alyssa Bouchard, Olivia Lawrence, Giana Grampetro, Peyton Shannon, Ashley and Josh Jones, Justin Devenger and Jacob Jones. He was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Holmes and Margaret Tracy.
A memorial service will be held, Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 2 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, followed by military honors. His family will receive friends, Saturday one hour prior to the service at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deane Highway, 2nd Flr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
