Martin Young Obituary

Martin Joseph Young, 65, of Coventry, CT, passed away unexpectedly (November 23, 2016) and joined his daughters Rachael and Jessica Young, as well as his parents Frederick and Gertrude LaPorte Young, in Heaven. Marty was a sharpshooter for the Army during the Vietnam War. He spent his life afterwards advocating for recognition and help for Vietnam Veterans. Marty was a passionate man who liked to speak at length regarding philosophy and politics. He enjoyed playing his guitar, tinkering with computers and reading, as well as studying mushrooms. Marty lived his life on his own terms, believing that life is about making an impact rather than making an income. He was extremely loving and proud of his 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Marty leaves behind his daughter Ingrid Carangelo and spouse Jay and their daughters Isabella and Calista, his son Justin Young and his son Thomas, grandsons Sean and Ryan Perrier, Joe Wilson IV, and granddaughter Vivian Cesario. He stated that having children was his greatest achievement in life and there isn't anyone who knew him that doubted it. He also leaves behind his brother Frederick Young, sister Jeanne Mattson and spouse Peter. As well as a nephew and 5 nieces of which he was incredibly proud of, along with their children. Services will be held at New Coventry Cemetery, Route 31 Coventry, at 10:15 am on December 18th. A memorial reception will follow at Knights of Columbus, 138 Snake Hill Road Coventry.

A beautiful man who left his mark on this world, and on anyone who knew him. Marty was an original, a one-of-a-kind, and we are all better off having spent time with him. The stories are endless, and the memories will be cherished. Thank you Marty for sharing your experience with me, and for your words of wisdom. I will miss them greatly.

I never had a chance to meet him, but it's an absolute honor to know and befriend his daughter! His memory, love, and wisdom will live on through her as she continues to touch and change people's lives simply by knowing her. I know he is proud of her up in heaven, and that he is not suffering but looking down on her and smiling! Rest In Peace Marty, and watch through the glory of your wonderful family that is still here showing us the true meaning of life and love!
