Mary Fleming Obituary

Mary Agnes Fleming of West Hartford, died April 8, 2023. With a heavy heart we share the unexpected passing of our beloved mother, nana, sister and friend. Mary, known as Aggie to many, was a lifelong educator who enjoyed time with family and friends and giving back to her community. She was perhaps at her happiest while spending quality time with loved ones along the shores of the Atlantic ocean. Mary Agnes was predeceased by her mother Catherine Virginia Smith, from Hancock, MD and father Robert Anderson, from Troy, NY. Her sister Sarah Catherine Lyons and brother John Lawrence Anderson also passed too soon. She is survived by her two brothers Robert Anderson of Newark, DE, and George Joseph Anderson of Liverpool, NY. She is also survived by her three children Jennifer Fleming Ream and Christopher Joseph Fleming of Lafayette, CO, and Catherine Virginia Fleming of West Hartford, CT. She was well loved and is greatly missed. Services will be held at St John's Catholic Church in Old Saybrook, CT on October 14th, 2023, at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to: Jewish Association for Community Living, 34 Jerome Avenue, Suite 109, Bloomfield, CT 06002 or Harc, Inc., 900 Asylum Ave, Hartford, CT 06105 or online at

We have shared many good experiences over the past 30+ years. Keeping each other company during Special Olympics swim meets, setting up our kids at West Normandy & supporting JCL & HARC events.
Aggie always made everyday count and her dedication and strength was always present and appreciated by those who knew her. May she rest in peace.

Aggie was my college roommate for 2 years and we remained
close friends since that time. There is a college group that has gotten together in Bethany Beach for many years and Ag always made sure she was here to share her life with us. We will meet again this coming weekend and she will be missed by all of us.
