KWASNIK, Mary (Zujko)

Mary (Zujko) Kwasnik, 91 of Newington passed away on Thursday (November 3, 2011). She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Kwasnik. Born in New Britain, she lived here most of her life, moving to Newington in 1978 and was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Ladies Guild. Mary owned and operated the Zujko Paint Store on Broad St., New Britain, with her brother Edward for many years. She belonged to the Newington Seniors and enjoyed playing setback. She is survived by her daughter Irene Kowalski and her husband Ken of Burlington, her son Raymond Kwasnik and his wife Elena of New Britain, four grandchildren Andrea and Tom Kowalski both of Boston, MA, Kelsey and Keith both of New Britain. We know her as Grandma and so did anyone that met her. She had an infectious smile and made friends with anyone she came across. Grandma had such an intense passion for life as she could be caught bowling every week and doing her best to hit the jackpot at the slot machines on her casino trips. She was always quick to keep her grandchildren in line, but would always follow up any lesson with a warm hug. We miss her already, but know that she is up in heaven with Grandpa and looking down on us with that loving smile. Mary was pre-deceased by her brothers Dr. Alphonse Zujko and Edward Zujko.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday 9:30 a.m., at Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Family and friends may call on Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., at Burritt Hill. Memorial donations may be made to the UConn Foundation, Calhoun Cardiology Center, 2390 Alumni Dr., Unit 3206, Storrs, CT 06269-3206. Dear family,
my name is Daniel Bucko from Poland. It is with great sadness that I read that Mary passed away.
Mary was my grandma's distant cousin. I always read the New Britain newspapers to keep track of my relatives who
immigrated there. Mary's father Jan Zujko was from Trzy Rzeczki, Poland, very close to where I was born.
My family wants you to know that we are thinking of your family and are sorry for your loss.
