Matthew McKeon Obituary

It is with overwhelming sadness we announce the passing of Matthew J. McKeon. Matthew passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. He was born in Hartford, CT, on November 5, 1968, and lived in Farmington and then the family later relocated to Glastonbury, CT. Matthew was the son of June (Wheeler) McKeon and the late Norbert A. McKeon, Jr. A graduate of Glastonbury High School, Matthew also attended Bradford College. Later, he graduated from Manchester Community College, cum laude, with a degree in computer science. He enjoyed a long and successful career at Pratt and Whitney / Raytheon as a computer specialist. Matthew and his daughter Jondle were very involved with Special Olympics and he enjoyed cheering her on when she participated in many of their events of track and bowling. In addition, he helped Jondle participate in horseback-riding therapy programs. He truly devoted his life to her. Matthew had a unique gift of enjoying life in a cheerful and spirited way. We always enjoyed his endless entertaining stories at our family gatherings. Although he will be greatly missed, we will fondly remember him by his 'joie de vivre' and have some consolation in that. In addition to his mother and step-father, Charles Friedman, Matthew is survived by his beloved daughter, Jondle Joy McKeon, and his brother, Sean M. Wheeler. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Ss. Isidore and Maria Parish in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main Street, Glastonbury. Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 4pm to 6pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury. Memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics, 2666 State Street #1, Hamden, CT 06517, or to MARC Community Resources, 1A Sanford Lane, Cromwell, CT 06416. Dear June and Family,
This is so heartbreaking to know I won't see Matt's car outside of your place everyday. He was so dedicated to Jondle, you and Charlie. There are no words. I will be keeping you all in my prayers.

Matt was the kindest man I´ve ever met. Our friendship spans decades. Last year, he helped me cope with a difficult diagnosis and surgery. He made me laugh and believe that everything would be okay. And everything turned out okay. I honestly don´t know how I would have done it without him. He was the first to call me at the hospital post surgery. That´s the kind of man he was.
My condolences to the family.
Matt, you are loved and will be missed.
