Maureen A. Wallison

Maureen A. (Volovski) Wallison, 88, of Canton, wife of the late Edward Lawrence Wallison, died Friday, September 8, 2023, at John Dempsey Hospital with her family by her side.

Maureen was born August 17, 1935, in Torrington, daughter of the late Francis and Dorma (Milewski) Volovski and had been a lifelong resident of Canton. She was a Clerk for the United States Postal Service and got to know many people who came to the Canton Post Office prior to her retirement in 1999.

She was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church in Collinsville, a member of the Women of St. Patrick, the Canton Seniors, Burlington Seniors, the Canton Fire Department Women's Auxiliary and the Commission on Aging. She was honored to be named Canton's Senior of the Year in 2019. Maureen enjoyed traveling, especially to Aruba with Emily, playing bingo and bowling as well as all of the activities at the senior clubs and luncheons. As a mother she loved watching cheerleading, soccer and equestrian events and later as a "Nanny" avidly watching her grandchildren's sporting events.

She is survived by her two daughters, Doreen Mikan and her husband Philip of East Hartland, CT and Susan Monroe and husband Jeffrey of Surprise, Arizona her brother, Paul Volovski and wife Nancy; her grandchildren; Sarah Parke, Andrew and Marisa Mikan and her niece Kym Goodrich (Dawn Volovski). She was predeceased by her son, Francis Wallison.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 19th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 20th at St. Patrick's Church, 50 Church Street, Collinsville, CT. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Collinsville. Donations in her memory may be made to Canton Seniors.
