Michael Bernard Obituary

Michael David Bernard, age 48, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on August 23, 2017. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, brother in law, uncle, great uncle and friend who touched the lives of the many people he loved. He lived his life to the fullest on his own terms. His children and his wife were his world. Theater was his vocation. Spending time with his wife, children and family and cooking for them was his passion. Often times, his family lived their lives with him between opening and closings of a show, between intermission and act two, curtains up and curtain down and between when his wife and children got out of school and he went in for a show call at night. Those moments added up to a life time of memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. He will live on in our love forever. He will be greatly missed by all including his father Dick Bernard, his sister Marie Miszewski, his brother Rich Bernard, his wife Tracy Bernard and his children Ian and Brianna Bernard. We know he was welcomed into the loving arms of his brother Tom Bernard and his mother Glenna Bernard who predeceased him. Calling hours will be Saturday, August 26th from 1-4 p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to help his son achieve his dream of becoming a Diesel Mechanic and his daughter's dream of becoming a Computer Engineer. Checks may be made payable to: Bernard Family Trust, C/O Matson Financial Advisors, 4 Mountainview Terrace, Danbury, CT 06810.

The man did not know how to say "No," when he certainly had a myriad of opportunities to do so. So kind, so helpful, and always with a ready smile. Michael will be missed.

Michael will be missed. I always enjoyed teasing him about his love of mints v turkey at Thanksgiving and his annual Facebook post: it's Nutcracker time.

Michael, you were part of the fabric of many lives. You were a good father, husband, and friend to many.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Michael once, while sharing a meal with his dad and Michael's lovely family. He was most gracious, and he obviously loved his family a great deal. My most sincere sympathy is extended to his family for a life that was cut short way too soon. You are in my prayers, and may God Bless you and provide
you comfort during this difficult time.

Michael's care with and mastery of productions, in addition to his kind spirit, helped me immensely during the premiere of my master's thesis. Hartt will not forget the impact he made on our school. All best goes to his family in this trying time.

I worked with Michael at Pfau's Hardware in the late 80's during our High School and college years. He would frequently give me a ride home after work but before doing so, we would stop at Kingswood Market, get just one beer each and de-brief on the day's events and then head our separate ways until the next day. We reconnected on FB a number of years ago and kept in touch infrequently and through FB learned among other things, we shared a love for Hallmark's in Old Lyme!

I'll remember Michael as a kind, compassionate and patient man who always had an upbeat and optimistic perspective. My sincere condolences to Michael's family ... you will be in my thoughts & prayers.

So sorry. He was a good friend, from High School in West Hartford, of both our sons; and was a very nice person.
