Michael M. Doyle

68, co-founder and former chairman of RDW Group, Inc., died Sunday, July 22, 2018. He was the loving son of the late Daniel and Marie (O'Regan) Doyle. Mike was the beloved father of Martha Doyle Lindman, and the adoring grandfather of Lyrah Marie Lindman and Keira McCarthy Lindman. He was the brother of Johana Griffith and her husband, Robert, and Daniel Doyle and his wife, Kathy. Mike was the uncle of Maria Griffith, Robert Griffith and his wife, Christine, Anne Griffith, Daniel Doyle, Matthew Doyle, Andrew Doyle and his wife, Betsy, Margaret Doyle, Caroline Erhard and her husband, Jake, and Julie Doyle. Mike had co-founded RDW Group, a full-service communications agency. He helped grow the agency from five employees to one of the largest independently owned advertising and public relations agencies in New England. He was best known as a trusted public affairs counselor for dozens of high profile projects, including the establishment of the Providence Place Mall, the rebranding of Blue Cross Blue Shield RI, the expansions of T.F. Green Airport, and the Central Landfill, as well as, the expanding of gaming at Twin River. Prior to co-founding RDW Group, Doyle was a director of administration for the State of Rhode Island and Chief of Staff to U.S. Congresswoman Claudine Schneider and Governor Edward DiPrete. He was Chairman of the Statewide Planning Commission, Cranston Planning Commission and a member of the State Investment Commission, Retirement Commission, Rhode Island Housing and Finance Corp. and many others. Mike graduated from Assumption College with honors and earned a Master's Degree in communications from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is the recipient of the Publicity Club of New England's Lifetime Achievement Award, the Crystal Bell; the Ad Club of Rhode Island's Person of the Year Award; and dozens of awards for communications excellence earned on behalf of clients. Long active in community affairs, Mike served on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Rhode Island; the Over The Rainbow Foundation; the RDW Minority Scholarship Fund; the Citizens Advisory Group of the Rhode Island Juvenile Drug Court; and many more. Mike was also known as a renaissance man. He loved to sail, and traveled all over the world, because he wanted to widen his understanding of different cultures and disbelieved that could be garnered from books. He sailed his boat, 'Trinity' across the Atlantic Ocean, though the Sir Francis Drake Channel was his favorite sail. Mike enjoyed spending time at his Villa Euphoria in the British Virgin Islands. He had a great appreciation for the arts, a trait he inherited from his mother. Mike had a love for dogs, especially Winston named for his favorite Politician, Winston Churchill and Regan, his service dog and loyal companion until the end. His funeral will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018, at 8:30 am from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph Church, Providence St., West Warwick. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Visiting hours Wednesday, 4-8 pm.
