We met Michael seventeen years ago when he married Millicent. It did not take very long for all of us to realize how intelligent and gracious he was to one and all. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. Michael will be sorely missed.

In 1978, Mike was among the first to greet me when I arrived at UConn. He oriented me to the Department of Psychiatry in a way that made it seem as if he was an old friend rather than a new acquaintance.
Mike was also the first to greet Karel and me at our new home in Collinsville in early 1979. The enclosed photo shows Mike taking the lead in getting our U-Haul unloaded. He did the heavy lifting as we watched in awe.
During the next sixteen years, while many of us rotated through the UConn Psychiatry Inpatient Service, Mike remained a steadying presence, respected and admired by all of his work colleagues.
Because Mike was so kind and concerned about others, I thought I´d be able to fleece him at poker. But I learned quickly, as did his other poker buddies-John Antonucci, Jim Winslow et al.---that nobody beats Mike Kubeck at poker. He had an uncanny ability to read the deck, sense our emotions and call our bluffs, and a way of making us not mind losing nearly every hand to him. I´ll miss seeing Mike gulp a beer, tell a joke and laugh his hearty laugh. That was always a splendid way to spend a Friday evening.
Karel and I send our deepest condolences.

I was fortunate to have worked with Michael & Millicent at UConn Health many years ago. They were both such kind and compassionate people.
Millicent & all family...please take good care of yourselves.

I was friends with Mike back in the Klingberg Center days where I worked in building maintenance. We often got together at parties and later on over drinks, just the two of us. I lost track of Mike when my wife and I moved to Dallas. After moving back to Woodstock I never got around to looking Mike up again. I enjoyed his company and friendship very much and am saddened to learn of his passing. My heart goes out to all family and friends.
