Michael J. Shashaty

Michael Joseph Shashaty, 58, of Rocky Hill, Connecticut entered into his eternal rest on September 2, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Michael George Shashaty and of Elizabeth (Cloherty) Spiegel. He attended schools in Milford, Connecticut, and after graduation joined the United States Army and served in Germany. Those who knew him remember his beautiful smile and love of all things connected to the "Dallas Cowboys." He developed a debilitating disease (CADASIL) that slowly robbed him of his health, but he fought bravely each day to function as well as possible. His journey was eased by the tender and loving care of the Veterans Home and Hospital staff who cared for him each day. Michael is survived by his two sons, Shane and Michael, his brother Daniel and his sister Helen Kizer (Shashaty) and her husband Carl. He was predeceased by his brother Timothy. He is also survived by his loving Stepfather, Jordan Spiegel, hisUncle and Aunt Joseph and Barbara Kaplowe, his Aunt Gloria Shashaty, and nieces Cassandra, Arielle, Amber Shashaty and Caitlin, Meghan Kizer and nephew Mark Kizer, and many Shashaty cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the chapel in State of Ct Veterans Hospital 287 West Street, Rocky Hill, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations will support the Cadasil Research - Wang Fund (314251).
