Michael A. Spadafora

1939 - 2022

Michael A. Spadafora, 83, of Windsor, beloved husband of Arline (Dassatti) Spadafora, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at home with his family by his side. He was born on February 4, 1939 in Pittsfield, MA; a son of the late Joseph and Santina (Guristanti) Spadafora. Mike had a distinguished professional career. He received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UMASS, and a MS in Electrical Engineering from UCONN. After working at Hamilton Standard for 35 years, he continued with contract engineering for an additional 6 years. In his retirement, he earned an Assoc. Degree in Landscape Design from STCC Springfield and started his own landscape design business. Mike was very involved in the community. He was a parishioner and volunteer at St. Joseph's Church in Poquonock, CT. He also volunteered for the Windsor CT Jaycees, the Boy Scouts of America, and Food Share. He co-founded the Windsor Youth Soccer Program in the late 1970's, which was used as a model for other soccer programs in surrounding towns. For many years, he coached youth soccer & baseball. Mike had many hobbies and interests. He was an avid golfer, fitness enthusiast, high level FIFA soccer referee, and dedicated Yankees & UCONN sports fan. He was a Master Gardener, who took pride in maintaining a huge vegetable garden & landscaped yard. Mike was happiest when spending time with his family. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Arline; six children, Christine Zerella (Steven), Tony Spadafora (Barb), Brian Spadafora (Shari), Tracy Spadafora (John Winsch), Andrea Kerr (Darrick), and David Spadafora (Kirsten); 12 grandchildren, Benjamin Zerella, Alyssa Czyz (Paul), Taylor Spadafora, Kathryn Spadafora, Adam Spadafora, Danielle Spadafora, Nathan Spadafora, Sophia Winsch, Margaret Kerr, Ronald Kerr, Edward Kerr, Ashley Spadafora; a great-grandson, Tristan Czyz; his sister, Rosemary Sinopoli, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Rita Dapson and brother Joseph Spadafora. Calling hours for Michael will be held on Sunday, August 28, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 29, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Damien of Molokai Parish-St. Joseph Church, Windsor, CT. Burial will take place in the St. Joseph Cemetery-Poquonock. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Michael's memory may be made to Healthwell Foundation, The Haiti Plunge, or Food Share of Connecticut.
