Milton Caves Obituary



Milton P. Caves, 94, a longtime resident of Milford and beloved husband of the late Margot Caves, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2016. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on June 2, 1921 to the late Chas R. and Mary Schweizer Caves. Milton graduated Lincoln High School in 1940 and then entered the Air Force in 1941 where he served for a little over four years as a Tech Sergeant and a Flight Chief for B17s. Milton moved to Hartford in 1945 and also lived in Canton and Simsbury. In 1985, he retired from Hanson and Whitney and finally settled in Milford. He was an avid stamp and coin collector who loved his dog Hurley. He was a family man and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Milton is survived by his loving children, Matthew Curran, Jessica (James) Salemi and Jennifer (Michael) Shuckerow; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kelley, Riley, Stephen, Samuel, Jack, Kaley, Max, Grace and Nicholas; his great grandchildren, Tristan, Jacob, Logan, Emma, Ryan and Ava Leigh; his brother, Ralph (Gerry) Caves of Lincoln, NE; his sisters, Mary "Sue" Dorf of Omaha, NE and Charlene Buroch of Andover, MN; as well as several nieces and nephews. Milton is predeceased by his brother, Gene Caves and his first wife Claire Caves. Interment will take place at 2:30pm Monday June 6th, 2016 at Cedar Hill Cemetery 453 Fairfield Ave. Hartford, CT 06114.
