CASCIANO, Nicholas R.
Nicholas R. Casciano, 90, passed away on Friday, (March 8, 2013). A lifelong resident of West Hartford, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beverly. He is survived by his daughters, Christina Lutzen, Beverly Huntington and Gina Diana; his son, Nicholas C. Casciano; sons-in-law, John Lutzen and Dana Huntington; a daughter-in-law, Candace Casciano; his grandchildren, Jaime Lutzen Mara, Currie Huntington, Michael Huntington, Nicholas R. Casciano, Marisa Casciano and Anthony Diana; and two great-grandchildren Alex and Troy Mara. A World War II veteran, Nicholas was co-owner of N.C. Casciano & Sons Construction Company. Later in life, he tuned and rebuilt pianos in the Hartford area before he retired to Cape Cod in 2000. His passion was music. He played trumpet, trombone, bass and piano in numerous swing bands in the Hartford area, and in smaller combos at the Elm Tree Tavern in Farmington. He spent many hours writing arrangements for his favorite songs and recording the backgrounds in his own recording studio at home. Recording his daughter, Gina, singing was his favorite hobby of all. He was a former member of Wampanoag Country Club and Farmington Country Club as he loved the game of golf and looked forward to playing any chance he could get. He so looked forward to sitting around the dining room table talking about our lives and life in general. All of these are treasured memories now, and we will keep them in our hearts forever. He was a great Dad and we will miss him every day.
Calling hours will be held at Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford on Tuesday, March 12 from 4-7 p.m. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home.
