Nicholas MARCO Obituary

MARCO, Nicholas Nicholas "Nick" Marco, 91, passed away on February 12, 2010. He lived in Willington all his life and he died peacefully in the home he had built. He is survived by Harriet, his beloved wife of 63 years. He also leaves behind two siblings, Michael Marco of Andover and Helen Sadow of Mansfield; two sisters-in-law Millie Marco and Thelma King, both of Willington; and his best friend Pete Gianopoulos of Marlboro. Sorely missing him are his children, Mary Anne Mathieu and her husband Wayne of Beavercreek, OH, Nicholas Steven Marco and his wife Kannika of Hua Hin, Thailand, Judith Marco and her husband Peter Cortiel of Willington, and George Andrew Marco and his wife Lisa of Willington; plus eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, all spread out around the world. Nick served in the South Pacific in World War II with the 43rd Infantry Division, 169th Regiment. He worked at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford for decades, retired early in good health, and stayed extremely busy maintaining lawns, gardens, and vehicles for his extended family. He was a member of the VFW, Uriel Lodge, and Willington Senior Center. He will be remembered as a man who could fix anything, loved his work, and loved his land. Arrangements are private, but a celebration of Nick's life is planned for July 2010, when all family and friends will be welcome.
