Nickalaus Kupczak Obituary

KUPCZAK, Nickalaus Nickalaus Kupczak, 57, of Colchester, passed away unexpectedly Friday (January 23, 2009) at Hartford Hospital. Born March 23, 1951 in Norwich, he was a son of Anna (Hryndrak) Koc of Colchester and the late Dmytro Kupczak. Nick was a 1970 graduate of Bacon Academy in Colchester and went on to enlist in the Army in February of 1971, proudly serving during the Vietnam War. Mr. Kupczak had been a food and beverage manager for Mohegan Sun Casino. He was a life member of the Colchester Fish & Game Club, a member of the Eastern CT Skeet League Assn., St. Joseph Polish Club in Colchester, the Adler-Boluck Post 6990 VFW and the Donald A. Bigelow Post 54 American Legion, both of Colchester, the Antique Veterans of Colchester Honor Guard, the International Organization of Old Bastards and was a past member of the Colchester-Hayward Vol. Fire Dept. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking and was a classic car enthusiast. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Maria and husband, Clyde Goding of Amston; two brothers; Stefan Kupczak and Peter and wife, Frances Kupczak, all of Colchester; a niece, Kristine Kupczak; a nephew, Kevin Goding; and numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Walter Koc; a daughter, Kathleen Ann Kupczak; and two nieces, Kelly Jean Goding and Jessica Marie Kupczak. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. A Panakhyda Service will be observed at 7 p.m. The funeral will assemble starting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home before the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 178 Linwood Ave., Colchester, with Fr. Cyril Manolev, officiating. Committal with full military honors will follow in the Linwood Cemetery, Colchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, 1233 20th St. NW, Ste. 402, Washington, DC 20036.
