Nicola MODUGNO

MODUGNO, Nicola Nicola Modugno, 88, of East Hartford, beloved husband of the late Serafina (Prudente) Modugno, died Saturday (October 2, 2010), at home with family by his side. Born January 8, 1922 in Corato, Bari, Italy to Antonio and Angela Modugno, Nicola emigrated to the United States in 1960. A long time member of Teamsters Local #559 and the East Hartford Sportsmen's Association, Nicola was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time at the shore in Mystic. Nicola is survived by three sons, Tony Modugno and his wife Lenore of Glastonbury, Jerry Modugno and his wife Elizabeth of Glastonbury, and Joe Modugno and his wife Maria of South Windsor; three daughters, Angela Senkbeil of New York, Teresa Ferrara and her husband Vinny of Florida, and Rosanna Esposito and her husband Sal of Florida; 17 grandchildren, Antonio, Alex, Nico, Tom, Michael, Matteo and Teresa Modugno, Serafina and John Salemi, Maria and Chris Ciaburri, Nick and Melissa Senkbeil, Jenny and Rich Weise, Vinny Ferrara, Tony and Vanessa Ferrara, Rosanna and Jason Tornatore, Nunzio and Gabby Esposito, Nicola Esposito, and Ralph and Mary Esposito; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister FilomenaModugno of Italy; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Nicola was pre-deceased by a grandson Frank Senkbeil. Calling Hours will be Monday (October 4, 2010) from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. Funeral Services will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5 at the Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, followed at 10 by a Mass of Christian Burial, St Rose Church, 33 Church Street, East Hartford.
