CLOUTIER, Normand E.
Normand E. Cloutier, 82 of Farmington and Bristol, died suddenly Tuesday, (October 9, 2012) at his home. He was the husband of the late Catherine (Pilsitz) Cloutier. Normand was born in Putnam, CT on June 1, 1930 a son of the late Elphege and Rosa Cloutier. He was a graduate of Putnam High School and received his degree in Engineering at Villanova University, graduating in 1958. Normand was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and held the rank of Corporal at and eventually Sergeant. While serving his country, he worked intelligence for the National Security Agency. During his career as an engineer, he worked for 23 years at Stanley Works and then at UTC until his retirement. An Eagle Scout, he was the founder and Troop Leader of the Disabled Boy Scouts of America for 25 years. Normand was an avid hiker, hunter and handyman. In his retirement, he enjoyed working with his good friend Steve Cowdell at Steven & Son, LLC. The family wishes to thank Steve and all of Normand's friends at Village Gate. He leaves his children, Robert Cloutier and his wife, Judi and their children Alexander and Caitlin Cloutier; David Cloutier and his wife, Jane Racer Cloutier and their sons Peter Samuel and Asa Charles Cloutier; Lorena Baker and her husband, Richard and their children Iain Baker and his wife Grace, Sarah Baker and her husband, Victor Coutin, and the family's first great-granddaughter, Tulia; Jeanine Cloutier and her sons Andrew Gall and his wife Esther and their children, Emily, John, Matthew and Michael; Phillip Gall, Christopher Gall and his wife Deanna, Travis and Scottie Johnson; Rene Cloutier, Michael Cloutier of Bristol; Cynthia Donovan and her husband, James and their son Jonathan; Gregory Cloutier and his wife, McKenzie; a brother and two sisters, Richard Cloutier, Jean Dahl and Jeannette Barrett and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Raymond, Albert and Edgar Cloutier and his sisters Doris Goulet and Pauline Hubert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, Bristol. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at The O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville/Bristol on Friday from 10-11 a.m. before Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Constructive Workshops, Inc., 461 Broad St., Unit B, Bristol, CT 06010-6639.
