Owen Fredericksen Obituary

Owen Arthur Fredericksen, 82, beloved husband of Carol (Strain) Fredericksen of Killingworth, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born on December 17, 1932, son of the late Arthur and Helen Crowell Fredericksen. Owen retired from Tilcon in North Branford where he had been employed as a driller for more than 30 years. He enjoyed his work and made many lifelong friends. He and close friend, Fred Koch, partnered in a well drilling business for several years. He was currently employed by the Town of Killingworth at the transfer station. Owen loved his position there and found great pleasure in helping others. There isn't a dog in town that hasn't felt his love of animals upon visiting the transfer station. Owen took great pride in building and erecting blue bird nesting boxes throughout Killingworth, helping to increase their population. He enjoyed working in his yard, Wednesday night card games, trips to the casino, NASCAR and his family. His contagious smile and upbeat personality touched everyone he met. He is survived by his son, Aubrey Fredericksen and his wife Debra of Killingworth, two granddaughters Erin and Julie Fredericksen, two grandsons James Miner III and Owen Miner of Higganum, and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by many stepchildren, their children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Fredericksen, daughter Georgia Lee Marica, stepdaughter Marilyn Petrowich, his two brothers, Walter (Lucky) Fredericksen and Anthony Hall, and his sister Phyllis Curl. A special note of thanks to Middlesex Hospital Hospice Care for their warmth and care given to Owen and his family. A celebration of Owen's life will be held Friday, August 14, 2015 at 6 PM at the The Congregational Church in Killingworth, 273 Route 81. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Middlesex Hospital Hospice Care Philanthropy Office 28 Crescent Street Middletown, CT. 06457 or The Congregational Church in Killingworth, UCC 273 Route 81 Killingworth, CT. 06419
