Paul ETHIER Obituary

ETHIER, Paul N. Paul N. Ethier of Farmington, Connecticut, passed away on January 1, 2011 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Paul was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on November 17, 1922 to Alexis Laurence Ethier and Bernadette Marie Paul. He attended East Hampton High School where he excelled academically, and following graduation joined the Merchant Marines, subsequently serving his country in World War II. After completing his service in the Merchant Marines he enlisted in the Army 82nd Airborne division, serving his country once again during the Korean War. Upon discharge from the Army he traveled to Miami where he met his wife of 53 years, Arlene Dangle. They were married in New Castle, Pennsylvania on February 2nd, 1957, and soon thereafter moved to West Hartford, CT, where he lived the majority of his life. He worked at the Hartford Courant Newspaper from 1957 until his retirement in 1988, becoming a member of the Thomas Greene Club; an organization of 25+ year employees named after the newspapers founder. Having been an avid golfer for many years, after retiring he joined Rockledge Golf Club, although he still enjoyed playing at his home course of Buena Vista. A devoted family man, Paul was the father of three children and grandfather of five grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Arlene, his children; Michelle Carrasquillo of Atlanta Ga, Melissa Ethier M.D. of Rye, NH, and Mark Ethier and his wife Lisa of Tampa, FL, his grand children; Gabrielle Carrasquillo, Stephen and Joseph King and Alex and Elizabeth Ethier, and his sister-in-law Betty Freese of Cedarburg, WI. A memorial service will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Hartford, CT. on Monday January 17th at 11 a.m. http://www.hsn.com/
