Paul Stewart Obituary

Paul Stewart, 82, of Burlington, beloved husband of Ruth "Bunny" (Pueschel) Stewart, died on Wednesday (April 5, 2023) at home surrounded by his family. Paul was born in Boston, MA on July 6, 1940 and was a son of the late Paul Stewart, Sr. and Marguerite (Christensen) Nihill. He came to Bristol at an early age where he graduated from Bristol High School. He enlisted to serve in the United States Army, serving overseas in Germany as a mechanic. He and Ruth settled in Burlington during the early 1970's. Paul was an auto mechanic working for Hamelin and Sons, Tunxis Service Center and Littman Motors until retiring. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, as well as playing horseshoes. He was a member of the Bristol Fish and Game Club where he enjoyed trap shooting. He was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bristol. In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by three children: Kim Melanson and husband, Richard of Bristol, and twins Kenneth Stewart and wife Diana, and Keith Stewart and wife Cheryl, all of Torrington; eight grandchildren: Nathan Melanson and wife Danielle, Brandon Melanson and wife Savanna, Matthew and Melissa Stewart, Kailey Baker and husband Michael, Amber Stepney and husband William, and Miranda and Nataley Stewart; four great-grandchildren: Jack Melanson, Ben Rosado, Sophia Stepney, and Nora Baker; and several nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by a son, Craig Stewart, a sister, Jeanne Potz, an uncle, Hans Christensen, and his beloved and faithful dog, Shadow. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, (April 11, 2023) at 11 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 154 Meadow Street, Bristol. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Burlington Center Cemetery, Burlington. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol on Monday (April 10, 2023) between 5 and 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army, 19 Stearns St., Bristol, CT 06010, Or to the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), 366 Main St., Terryville, CT 06786. Paul is in my prayers EVERY NIGHT...along with Bill !! So many happy and funny memories of Paul and all the Stewart family over the years. As we get older we depend on those memories of our loved ones to keep our hearts beating. I am blessed to have so many to enjoy. Wishihg all the Stewarts the same! LOVE YOU! Nancy Jordan

I am sorry for the Loss of Paul. I was a neighbor of the Pueschels on Lawndale avenue. I saw Paula and Bunny together back in the 602 and 70s. My condolences to the family and prayers for the family and extended family.
