Pauline Thomas Obituary

THOMAS, Pauline J. Pauline J. Thomas, 72, of Cromwell, beloved wife of Robert L. Thomas, passed away on Tuesday (August 5, 2008), at her home surrounded by her family following a two year illness. Born on May 27, 1936 in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Julian and Mary (Swol) Gondek. Pauline had lived in Cromwell for 54 years and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell. She graduated from Middletown High School, attended the University of Connecticut and graduated from the University of Hartford. She worked at the American Heart Association, was a legal secretary for a Hartford Law Firm, and a secretary in the engineering department of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Pauline retired to be a stay at home mom when her first child was born. She took great pleasure in cooking, flower gardening, and the interior decorating of her home. During her illness she took an interest in and started scrap booking. Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Delaney and her husband, Kevin, her two sons, John Thomas and his wife, Kenia and William Thomas and his wife, Carolynne, all of Cromwell; a sister, June Gondek of Middletown and six special grandchildren in whom she took great pride, Erica and Olivia Delaney, Heather and Julian Thomas, Ariane and William Thomas. The family would like to thank everyone at Middlesex Hospice for their care and support. At Pauline's request, there will be no calling hours and the funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the State Veteran Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers friends and family may make donations in Pauline's memory to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492; the Bethany Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 50 Court Street, Cromwell, CT 06416 or to the charity of their choice. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.doolittlefuneralservice.com. The Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell is handling the arrangements.
