Pawel Pusko Obituary

Pawel Pusko, 89, of New Britain, passed away Tuesday, (June 18, 2002) at Andrew House Nursing Home. He was born February 1, 1913, in Dunilowicze, Poland. He was the son of the late Stanislaw and Waleria Pusko. He worked at Atlantic Machine (Textron) in Newington, for many years. Following his retirement he lived in New Port Richey, FL and Indianapolis, IN, before settling back in New Britain. He joined the Polish Army in 1935. During World War II he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He fought in the Monte Casino Campaign in Italy, and served throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Russia. For his war service, Poland awarded him the Cross for Valour and the Cross of Monte Cassino. Great Britain awarded him the 1935/1945 Star, the Italy Star, the Defence Medal and the War Medal 1939/1945. Following the war he lived and worked in Great Britain before coming to Connecticut with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Brady and her husband, Denis of Indianapolis, IN; and his son, George Pusko and his wife Judy of Cheshire; and two grandchildren, Geoffrey and Courtney Pusko. He was a long time member of Sacred Heart Church in New Britain and General Haller Post. He will be missed. Memorial contributions in Pawel's name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
