Peter John Catalano, 72, husband of Susan Burnham Catalano, died on January 6, 2015 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in New Britain on October 31, 1942, he was the son of Attilio and Sue (Avalone) Catalano. He had resided in Southington, Berlin, Newington and Meriden and had graduated Berlin High School. Peter was employed by Northeast Utilities, retiring after thirty-seven years of service in the real estate department. He served with the U.S. Army Reserves from 1964 to 1969. He was a member of New Life Bible Church in Hamden. Peter was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports, especially baseball. Peter enjoyed vacationing in Maine with his wife, Susan. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Andra Brysgel and her husband Eric and Jennifer Rojas and her husband José; two sons, Peter Catalano and his wife Rhoda and Matthew Catalano and his wife Jennifer; eight grandchildren, Erika Litevitch and her husband John, Drew Catalano, Ali Brysgel, Ryan, Zach and Grace Catalano and Ava and Caiden Rojas; one great-grandchild, Jadon Litevitch; two sisters, Susan Berardi and her husband Frank, and Shirley Pendleton and her husband Robert and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a very caring uncle, Robert Catalano of Franklin, MA, a great friend and brother-in-law, Douglas Burnham and his wife, Bette and a sister-in-law, Mary-Ellen Rosenberry. Dad,
It's been three years and not a day goes by that I don't think of you and miss you.
I miss your daily calls - at least three a day! The way you would make me laugh, and just the great support and advise you provided to me. You were such a great example- I seriously don't think I ever heard you say a bad word about anybody. Car shopping will never be the same without you. We would test drive cars and rarely buy them. You always told the best stories and you would have everybody laughing. You lived for family get togethers and you always loved going to all the grand kids games and events. Holidays are not the same without you.
I will miss you until the day I see you again in HEAVEN.
Thank you for being the best father in the world. I consider myself truly blessed to be your daughter. I love you so much.

I worked with Pete for a short period but knew him for many years. Heart of gold and had he ability to make your day with his humor. Upstanding, caring and unpretentious. RIP...our condolences to family.

I have an unsent e-mail suggesting we meet for breakfast after the holidays. That was in December 2012. Somehow things just got in the way, and we never met. Susan, he was truly one of the good guys - someone to be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Susan and family - my sincere condolences for your loss. Peter was easily one of the most friendly and pleasant people I've ever met and I will miss our discussions on the stock market and the Yankees. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
