Peter DAGGETT Obituary

DAGGETT Jr., Peter Burt
Peter Burt Daggett Jr., 38, died suddenly on September 7, 2011 at his home in Colleyville, Texas. Born in Mount Kisco, NY on March 1st, 1973 he moved to Newington, CT. in 1978. "Burt" graduated from Newington High School in 1991, and attended the University of Connecticut where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Actuarial Science, later becoming an Associate of the Society of Actuaries. He was employed as Chief Actuary for Healthmarkets in North Richland Hills, Texas. Burt had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and wrestling. He loved all sports and was an avid Yankees fan as well as the N Y Giants and the Dallas Stars. Burt found his greatest pleasure in puttering around his backyard and entertaining friends and family with his amazing cooking, a good glass of wine and fine cigar. He was well known by the kids in his neighborhood for his "tractor rides" He had a special fondness for Old Orchard Beach, Maine and Walt Disney World, and had made several trips there with family and friends over the years. Burt's priority was his family, but he was beloved by most who knew him. He befriended many who crossed his path and was a best friend to multiple people. He was a truly amazing person and will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Those left to treasure his memory are his loving wife Meredith, and his twin daughters Sydney and Madison of Colleyville. Also, his mother, Beth Daggett, sister Kim Cornell, her husband Kevin, nephew Kevin Jr. and niece Victoria all of Newington,Ct. In addition, his in-laws, who were very special to him, Hal and Diane Koppel of Madison, CT, Troy Koppel and his wife Ivona and nephew Chase of Winsted, Ct. There are also several Cousins, Aunts and Uncles and very special friends.
An informal gathering to celebrate Burt's life will be held at Billy Tee's, 150 Sebethe Drive, Cromwell on Saturday, September 24 from 3-6 p.m. The family encourages all to bring a memory to share. Memories and Condolences

Not sure what to say?

Meredith, My fondest memories of Burt were of all the great fun we had in OOB, Maine. Especially the scavenger hunt, he would go all out to collect all the items needed. He was a great sport and always friendly. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

Our son Eric informed us of the untimely death of Burt. Eric and his friend Jason Coan remembered Burt as a joyful individual as he passed through the halls of NHS. It is not surprising that this was typical for this individual.

We only had contact with Burt during his Little League years, but they were long lasting. I personally remember Burt as a rolly-polly young man who had great hands and a powerful bat. I can't remember all of the kids on the team, but I do remembr Burt with his unwavering determination to do his best. I laugh and I cry when I remember his drives to the outfield, and then secretly praying that he would make it to first base before the incoming throw would arrive. Fortunaltely, he always seemed to succeed, and sometimes ended up on second!

We lost track of Burt after Little League, but always knew he would be successful in life. Many people don't understand what an actuary does (we have a son-in-law who is an actuary, and we sometimes wonder what he does), but one thing is for sure. It takes a lot of intellegence and resolve to become certified. As a youth, Burt always gave it his all, and it is not surprising that this carried on in later years.

We are truly saddened for his passing, but are grateful that we had a few years to be associated with him, his mother and his sister during his younger years. We treasure these memories.

Our sincere condolances to his mother Beth, his sister Kim, his wife Meredeth and his daughters Sydney and Madison. We pray that you will find strength to face these difficult times, but find comfort that Burt will always be with you, even if only in memory, in the years to come.

I am forever greatful to have met and gotten to know a great man. When I think about Burt, I see this amazing smile that radiated any place he was. He truly was a great soul and a loving husband and father. His memory and legacy will last on through all of our hearts and through the people that were blessed to have crossed his path. This is not a good bye old friend, it's merely a see ya later until we meet again in a better place. Love, Vanessa and Dan

Meredith, Madison, Sydney and the entire family, I am so sorry to hear for the loss of Peter. I know he loved his family more than anything. I worked with Peter at HealthMarkets and he was always giving someone a hard time (jokingly of course). He always helped people see the lighter side of things and I am sure was that way at home. We will miss him dearly at the office. Please know if you need anything, his HealthMarkets Family is here to help. Please know my thoughts and prayers will be with you as you endure this most difficult time. With a heavy heart,
