Peter Ignatowicz Obituary

Peter Ignatowicz, 74, of Vernon Ave.,Rockville died Wednesday, (October 30, 2002) at Rockville General Hospital. He was the husband of his loving late wife, Helen (Suszko) who passed away on Sept. 19, 2002. Peter was born on March 22, 1928 in Rockville, son of the late Alexander and Victoria (Chudzik) Ignatowicz and resided there all his life. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marines during World War II. Mr. Ignatowicz retired from the former Contromatics Corp. in East Hartford. He was a communicant of St. Bernard Church, Rockville. He was a member of American Legion, Post #14, Vernon, a longtime member of Vernon Fire Dept., Hook and Ladder. Mr. Ignatowicz was a volunteer counselor at Rockville General Hospital. He played country western guitar with his friends at the garage. He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Peter and Patricia Ignatowicz of Vernon, David and Tish Ignatowicz of Willington and Robert Ignatowicz of Rockville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Edward Wielechowski of New Britain and Cheryl and Brent Burgess of Vernon; his sister, Hedy Koschwitz of Vernon; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and two special friends, George Landry of Tolland and Forrest Carrow of Vernon. Family and friends may call on Sat., Nov. 2 at WHITE-GIBSON-SMALL Funeral Home, 65 Elm St., Rockville at 9 a.m. until time of the procession to St. Bernard Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Internment with military honors immediately following in Grove Hill Cemetery, Rockville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North Central Hospice, 8 Keynote Dr., Vernon, CT 06066.
