Born Nov. 12, 1957 in Manchester, he was a son of the late Henry and Muriel (Anderton) Skoog. I remember Pete with that shy grin sitting in the back of my mom's caddy on the way to Willimantic hospital after my dog (Meisha) bit him. Somehow, I don't think he was loving riding in the constable's car - LOL! How things change with time.

I wish I had stayed in touch. From what I've read here, it sounds like Pete got even better with time - he was very special to a lot of people. My favorite memory of Pete is of him and Shep in the canoe in the middle of the lake. They always looked like they belonged there - in special communion with nature.

To Pete's family - I'm sorry we never met. I'm so sorry for your loss. God be with you and strengthen you.

Pete will be much missed. He gave so much to others and to Andover Lake - for a few years Pete and I were "joined at the hip" working together for ALPOA & ALMA. He gave so much to this Lake and will forever be appreciated and remembered.

Elinor and Sara,
Though we did not know Pete well, we knew he was a good soul, and a good neighbor. Always a smiling face and a cheerful wave as we passed by your house. He was always willing to lend a hand. He will be missed.

If we can help you through this difficult time in any way, please let us.

Our heart aches for your loss.

Sincerely, your neighbors

Sara, as a past Treasurer of the Lake Association, I wrote you a number of checks for your service as a lifeguard. Your dad was a most active director of the Lake Association. His contribution in time and effort was very important to the history of the lake. I knew him in no other context, but you can be proud of him in that one.

It was with a feeling of sadness and disbelief when I learned of Pete's passing today on return from a trip to Oregon. During my time in public office it was always a joy to work with him on Andover Lake issues. I watched him deal with his illness always optimistic, a real fighter. My deepest sympathy is extended to the family.

I loved your smile, Pete. I am so happy that you had 12 good years with my dearest friend, Elinor. My best memory will always be from our trip to Utah. Remember, you were the Man of the mountain. I'll never forget when you came back from your solo trip up, you were a new man! You said the feeling (high) was nothing like you had ever experienced before. You made us all smile! Thanks!!
