Phil Fowler Obituary

Phil Fowler of Terryville - a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend - suddenly died early Saturday morning. He was 68. Phil was born on May 18, 1947 in Waterbury, CT. He was the son of the late Clifford and Mildred (Mott) Fowler. Phil is survived by his loving wife Joan of 47 years, his three sons Jeffrey, Mark and Dennis, two daughter in-laws Jennie and Gina, his older sister Marjorie Maisto of Oakville, two nephews David and Paul and a niece Pammy, along with four grandchildren Drew, Juliet, Luke and Jack and several great nieces and nephews. Phil was a legendary science teacher at Litchfield High School for 44 years, impacting the lives of thousands of students. His excellence in teaching helped him earn the Teacher of The Year Award three different times. He also was a dedicated public servant in Plymouth for over 40 years. He served on the Board of Education, The Terryville Fields Committee, and The Lions Club. He loved sports and coached Terryville Travel Soccer and for the Plymouth Parks and Rec during basketball season. Phil loved being a handyman, helping his sons with projects around their houses, and playing games he made up with his grandkids. He loved to travel with his wife, especially to Aruba. Most recently, he spent the winters living with his wife in West Palm Beach, FL. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:00AM at St. Casimir Church, Terryville. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00PM. We've only know Phil for a few years, since they moved to the condo in Lake Worth. But in that short period of time, we have grown so close and enjoyed his company, contributions, and leadership as past president. We will miss him greatly.
