Philip Nelson Obituary

Philip James Nelson, 71, of Bloomfield and formerly Collinsville and Farmington, CT passed away peacefully on January 10, 2023, at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford after a recent illness. Phil was the son of the late Clinton and Elvira Nelson.

Phil is survived by his wife and long-time partner, Leslie Woodworth; his two children with his former wife Linda Moran, daughter, Jessica (Jess) and her wife Zoe Keller, of New Haven, and son Andrew (Andy) and his wife Jennifer (Jen), their son Elijah, of North Kingstown, RI; and Phil's brother Dennis and wife Cecile of Corning, CA. He's also missed by his pups, Koji and Mikki, two of many dear pets that he and Leslie shared over the years.

Phil's deepest passion was music. He was a keyboard player, a composer, and, earlier in life, played in bands. He loved writing his own music and took joy in the musical talent of his son, Andy, and grandson, Elijah. He continued to remix many of his songs until his death, leaving his last favorite song "The Promise" unfinished.

His daughter Jess recalled that, for all his life, Phil loved baseball and the Red Sox. Recently he mentioned that he probably wouldn't get to see them play this season. Hopefully, they'll get that lineup straightened out (he had suggestions) and have a winning year again.

And Dennis remembered Phil's love for UCONN basketball - women and men - a winter must-see and a way to pass the cold months.

Services will be held on his birthday, January 24, 2023. Visitation will be from 11am-12pm, followed by a funeral service at 12pm, at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, CT. Interment will follow immediately after in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. For online condolences, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com

I was so sorry to hear of Phil's passing. Many years ago, we played in a band together called Good Company. He was a phenomenal, talented keyboard player, as well as a kind, soft spoken guy.
My condolences to the family. Phil will be greatly missed.
