Ralph Monaco Obituary

Ralph Joseph Monaco was an amazing husband, father, uncle, brother, and friend. He left this world suddenly on July 10, 2021, at the age of 54. He was born to Louis and Louise Monaco on June 17, 1967, in the Bronx, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 24 years, Dina Monaco, daughters Abby and Anna Monaco, sister Angela Mahncke, and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. After graduating from Fordham University, he pursued his love for the law, becoming a very successful and passionate trial lawyer. He was a proud partner in the firm Conway, Londregan, Sheehan & Monaco, P.C. in New London, CT. Ralph Monaco was a man of the people. He served as 87th Connecticut Bar Association President from 2010-2011. He also served on the Mercy High School Board in Middletown, CT and on the board for Catholic Charities in Norwich, CT, as well as a handful of other organizations. Ralph gave a voice to those who didn't have one. His greatest accomplishment, however, was not his career, but the relationships he had with his family and friends. He married the love of his life, Dina, and they had two beautiful daughters, Abby and Anna. To know Ralph was truly a blessing. You didn't need to know him personally to call him a friend because he was a friend to all. He treated every person he met with respect, kindness, and dignity. He especially loved his wife and children beyond measure and his greatest moments were spent with his family. Although his time on earth was cut short, he touched the life of everyone he knew. Visitation for Ralph J. Monaco will be held Thursday, July 15 from 4:00-7:00pm at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St. Centerbrook. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 16 at 11.30am at St John Roman Catholic Church, 161 Main St. Old Saybrook, CT. The attributes all lawyers try to achieve in their careers is the Capacity to act in a manner that engenders respect for the law and the profession - in other words, civility.

Ralph exhibited these attributes the first day I met him during our first case together and every subsequent encounter.

The Connecticut Bar has lost an Attorney that showed us all how to be the best attorneys we could be.

My deepest sympathies to Ralph´s Family because they have not lost a Lawyer, they have lost a Husband, Father and Inspiration

I am also one of the heartbroken who has nothing but fond memories of Ralph, at the law school and beyond, and will forever hold him up as a beacon of what it means to be a true "public citizen" lawyer. My deepest sympathies to his family and partners.

The Resmini Law Firm is deeply saddened by the sudden loss to his treasured family and his brothers and sisters of the law practice. Ralph was truly a benchmark of character, compassion and professionalism. Me and my 2 lawyer sons, reached out to Ralph on many occasions because of his skill and willingness to help others regardless of significance or triviality. To me he was a source of counsel; a should to share family treasures, and a friend if I needed one. He was not one of my sons but I would have been proud and honored had he been one.

Sending loving thoughts to Ralph's family and friends, including his "work family". Even as he started his work career at Conway & Londregan, he was a joy to be with and a caring gentleman. My heart aches for the family loss.

So sad to hear you're gone, Ralph. I remember I was a new court reporter working for Shea & Sullivan and you were fresh out of law school. We were both so nervous at our first deposition, but when I saw your smile I knew we'd be fine. That smile was always there no matter what, every time I saw you. You will be missed.
