He was born in Middletown, son of the late Joseph J. and Catherine (Kuzaro) Bogdan. A graduate of Vinal Technical School, he was a tool and dye maker for Pratt & Whitney. Ray eventually became a successful real estate broker, land developer and owner of Bogdan Associates and Swing Bridge Market Place. Along with Vicki, Ray is survived by sons, Eric and his wife Yvonne of East Haddam CT, Kurt and wife Isabel of Westport, CT, Seth and wife Karen of Glastonbury, CT, step daughter Adrienne Debigare and her husband Nick Donaldson of Westminster Co; six grandchildren, Erica and Stephen, Olivia and Norah, Sarah and Jacob. Ray is also survived by his former wife Gail of Portland CT. He was love and cherished by many nephews and nieces. It should be noted that Ray is pre-deceased by many beloved springer spaniels. Including his surviving buddy Mac. He was predeceased by his brothers, Thaddeus "Teddy" and Joseph Jr "Sonny". Early on, Ray had a passion for figure skating and auditioned for The Ice Capades. He served proudly in Naval Reserves and was an avid hunter. His ultimate passion was sailing and loved his Tartan 34 Liberty for over 30 years. Special Thanks to the staff at Middlesex Hospital, especially South 5 and South 7, Higganum Family Medical Practice, and Haddam Volunteer Ambulance Association. His Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday (Sept. 29th) at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Church, Higganum. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday (Sept. 28th) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. Middletown. Dear Vicki and Family, Please accept my heartfelt sympathies on the loss of your beloved Ray. He was quite a guy and I liked him very much. Ray could easily have made yet another career working at the tag sale at St. Peter's as a top salesman. He was always showing me the hidden treasures on the tables and would like to show all the wonderful pieces of furniture that were listed at such terrific prices. He just couldn't believe someone didn't snatch them up. Ray made me smile so often and my life was much better for knowing him. He will be missed. Ray, and all of you, will be remembered in my thoughts and prayers.

I have many wonderful memories of Ray. Gail and Ray were the reason we moved to Haddam and raised our family there.
He will be missed.

Ray was a major influence to many people. I deeply enjoyed the times we were able to visit and share stories of his travels and vast insights. I recall he was a very respected member of his community. I enjoyed the memorable family events we were able to share with him personally. Ray took great pride caring for many things, especially his children. He loved them all equally. Among many hobbies and interests, Ray was very fond of nature. I learned many things about the outdoors from Ray and his son's. I remain very thankful for the all the respect that Ray imparted to myself and our friends. He remains one of the most interesting and lauded leaders of our time. My best wishes to the family at large. He remains an icon of human history and mankind in general.
